This was the largest group of ladies to attend a weekend to date. A total of 42 new babe chicks attended. Boy was it crowded! However by now the team had been thru two other ladies weekends and handled the situation expertly well. More space would have been a blessing, but all agreed it just meant more togetherness. The Eastern Diocese again sent a group of their members to be on team, to gain experience for their upcoming event. They also some new candidates as well. Many thanks were expressed to the Kitchen Team who had to feed approximately 75 people three times a day. Usually that number is around 50 - 60. BABE CHICKS
WEEKEND #7 MEN'SSeptember 22 - 25, 1988 Held at: St. Martin's Parish Hall in Gander Weekend theme and song: "I Am The Bread Of Life
This was the first weekend in a full year because we took time out to go to St. John's in January, to help the Eastern Diocese, hold their first set of weekends. It was also a smaller weekend than in the past, with just 10 candidates. The smaller number made for some real close bonding. BABE CHICKS
WEEKEND #8 LADIESOctober 7 - 10, 1988 Held at: St. Martin's Parish Hall in Gander Weekend theme and song: "I Am The Bread Of Life"
This was the first weekend that Claude Brown handled our kitchen and he did such a good job, that he has been our chief chef, at almost every weekend since. We had another full house of candidates with a total of 34. We had quite a number of new faces on the team this weekend and they were all impressed to learn all the work that goes on behind the scenes. BABE CHICKS
WEEKEND #9 MEN'SOctober 6 - 9, 1989 Held at: St. Martin's Parish Hall in Gander Weekend theme and song: "Fill My House"
This was again another small group of men candidates with only 9 registering. After the first day we lost one who wanted to leave, and we were reduced to 8. This was the first and only time that we had a candidate leave the weekend before it's completion. Needless to say with this small number, we became very close and enjoyed deep spiritual feelings. Although we were few in number we were reminded of the words "Where two or three are gathered together in MY name, I will be in the midst of them" BABE CHICKS
WEEKEND #10 LADIESOctober 7 - 10, 1988 Held at: St. Martin's Parish Hall in Gander Weekend theme and song: "Fill My House"
This was a changing year for the Movement, because similar to the men's last two weekends, this weekend set a low attendance number for the ladies. We had a total of 12 ladies at the weekend. This was destined to be the last set of separate weekends to be held in our diocese and after a year break in 1990, we started to plan a Co-Ed weekend for 1991. several other big changes happened at this weekend as well. Both Rev. Ron Lee and Rev. Wilfred Sullivan were not present for the first time since we started the Movement. Both had moved to other areas. BABE CHICKS
