This was the very first Anglican Cursillo Weekend to be held in the Central Nfld. Diocese. The majority of team members were from the Roman Catholic Movement in St. John's. We shall always remember these brothers and sisters in Christ, and will always be grateful to them for working so diligently to help us launch the movement in our diocese. Over the last ten years, we have gradually lost touch with some of these original team members from those very early weekends, but we wanted to mention them here, and to tell them that they will always have a special place in our hearts. One of the biggest challenges was to transform the Scout meeting room into a chapel. The guys built an altar, constructed a foundation for the altar, surrounded it with beautiful railings, hung draperies, a hand made cross, covered the walls with banners, brought in lamps, organ & many chairs. Ruth Hunt made an altar cloth with "our cross" worked into the material. A sight to behold and one that will be with us always. BABE CHICKS
AUGUST 29-SEPT 1, 1986 Held at: St. Martin's Parish Hall in Gander Weekend theme and song: "My Friends"
The First Ladies weekend followed much the same format that was established at the previous Men's weekend. Everything was improved however, because all the bugs were ironed out at the men's. Again a large group of Cursillistas from the Roman Catholic Movement in St. John's, came to be on team and guide us thru this first weekend. We shall always be thankful to them for their loving kindness. BABE CHICKS
