January 19 2005

A tribute to a dear friend

By Barbara Leyte

Bessie

On January 19, 2005 I said good-bye to my dear friend Bessie.  Bessie was a committed Cursillista for many years and dearly loved the Cursillo family.

Bessie affected everyone around her with her good spirit, even those people who only met her once was affected by her.

I would visit with Bessie in the senior's home where she lived her last few years. What a joy to sit, listen and talk with her.  She inspired me with her gentle, caring and loving ways.  On a number of occasions Bessie was in a lot of pain and discomfort but she never complained.  She always found a way to uplift others around her.

I miss her and our time but I know I can look to Bessie as an inspiration of what a person can do.  I will never forget the life lessons she taught me.

Bessie always called me her "Angel".......I now know I have and angel watching over me and I am so glad to have had her Lover and Friendship.  The last thing Bessie asked me to do was to read the Bible to her ..... and I was honored to have been asked to do that at her funeral.

As Bessie would say " It's all in God's timing dear" ...
