Anglican DioceseCentral NewfoundlandCursilloThe Fifth DayThis page is dedicated to our Cursillista Brother and Sisters that have gone on to their final reward, to their FIFTH DAY Elizabeth Waterman Feb 12, 2005 By Dorothy Stockley On Saturday February 12, 2005, a goodly congregation of family and friends gathered in St. Martin's Cathedral, gander to pay their respects and farewells to a dear family member and friend, Elizabeth Waterman (1912 - 2005) Elizabeth (Lizzie to many of her family and friends) was a long time member of St. Martin's Church, and took great pride in the fact that her husband helped to build it. she gave freely of her time, talents and treasure to god and her church. She was a faithful member of ACWA having first joined at 15 years of age in her native Boyd's Cove, Gander Bay. She never missed a meeting or "time" in all the years she was physically able to attend. In 1992, she joined Cursillo and made her weekend at Grand Falls/Windsor. From tat time on she eagerly participated in weekly sharing at St. Martin's and in as many Ultreyas as she could. I was privileged to be her driver on many occasions after she gave up her own car, taking her to church services and other events. "I'm going - you pick me up", she would say. Many will remember her as the "tough" old lady who never wore a hat or gloves and ususlly shoes rather than boots even in the worst Winter weather. Caring and hospitable, she always had a smile and a feisty sense of fun. she was especially fond of little children and couldn't pass a child in a stroller or shopping cart without stopping to say "Hello, little darling". Elizabeth went to meet her Lord at 5:30 an on February 10th and to her well earned rest. R.I.P. Elizabeth, we will meet again in the "Sweet Bye and Bye" Des Colores!
