Rev. Wilfred Sullivan
May 1994
A tribute to a wonderful friend
By Hazen Walters
WILFIE
To know him was to love him.
Rev. Wilfred Sullivan came to our Diocese in the fall of 1985
when he became a Curate at St. Martins Parish. He was one of the group to go
to the weekend in St. John's that next spring 1986. From the moment he
returned to Gander after that weekend he became totally dedicated to the
Cursillo Movement. He was the musician for every weekend we held after
that until he moved from our Diocese, and his musical gift inspired all who
attended. He was also one of the weekend Spiritual Directors at those
same weekends and again his Talks touched everyone present. His help in
arranging the closing Ceremonies made those occasions something very touching.
We were all learning at this early time and his ease at these special moments
helped us to end a beautiful weekend on a special note.
in the early years Cursillo just wouldn't be Cursillo without
Wilfie. He gave so much of himself. His input at the meetings
while a member of the "Back Table" was really uplifting and he always seemed
to know just what to say at the right moment. He was always a leader at
skit times as well and his brand of humor was contagious...we shared many a
laugh together.
Rev. Wilfred Sullivan passed peacefully away at St. Clare's
Hospital, St. John's, NFLD., in May 1994 at the tender age of 37.
Gone to finish his work, in the Master's Vineyard.
